Portrait Drawing the Classical Way- Ages 14-adult. Wednesdays, April 20-June 8, 2011 6:30-8:30 p.m. (eight sessions, 16 hours)
Students will work form a live, clothed portrait model on an extended pose. Learning objectives include employing comparative methods for finding proportions, seeing values, some anatomy and a holistic working method. Students will learn drawing skills to create a likeness of the sitter and how to apply the working material and use various drawing tools. The class is open to students working at various levels of ability. I will provide individual instruction and give class demonstrations. A materials list will be mailed with class confirmation. Still Life Painting- Ages 8-13. Wednesdays, April 20-May 25, 2011 4:30-6:00 p.m. (six sessions/ 9 hours).
I will lead students in an exploration of the fundamentals of drawing and painting a still life composition- studying proportions, shapes, and values, and proceeding in a holistic working method. An original still life will be completed from an initial sketch to the finalized painting. Painting objectives are to learn color mixing, paint application and procedure. Supplies are included. Let's Draw- Ages 6-10. Thursday, March 31, 2011 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (one session, 2.5 hours)
Students will use their imagination to create figurative, portrait, landscape, and/or animal compositions while learning to express their ideas more effectively through the principles of composition. Public $20 / MWA Members $10.

Human Figure Painting - Intensive Two Day Workshop Saturdays, February 12th and 19th, 10:00-4:00 p.m. Students will work from the nude model. Learning objectives include employing comparative method for finding proportions, seeing values, anatomy, and drawing with charcoal. Students will learn how to apply paint and mix a flesh-color palette. Individual instruction and class demos will be provided for the whole class. Open to all levels of ability. Still Life Painting Workshop - One Day Intensive Saturday, February 26th, 10:00 am to 4:00 p.m. A still life composition will be the focus. Students will draw the still life using raw umber on their canvas. Students will learn to explore the fundamentals of drawing: finding proportions, and seeing shapes and values.
