Art Fundamentals: Composition (CE-ART 307)

Students learn the fundamentals of composition working from photo references. Course objectives focus on learning basic principles of composition including perspective, devices to create depth, lighting, and creating a center of focus. Students are encouraged to use their imagination to create compositions while learning to express their ideas more effectively through the principles of composition.

Museum of Wisconsin Artists West Bend, WI:

Mastering the Human Figure- Age 14-Adult

Artist Steve Ohlrich will lead students in the classical method of figure drawing, demonstrating the comparative technique of working from a live model. Students will learn a holistic drawing procedure to create a realistic human figure drawing. Line, values and modeling will be explored as expressive tools and essential tools. Anatomy will be discussed and application of media will be demonstrated for various effects. The class is open to the beginner as well as advanced artist. A supply list will be sent with your confirmation.

Still Life Painting- Just for Kids, ages 9-14

Professional artist Steve Ohlrich leads students in an exploration of the fundamentals of drawing and painting--studying proportions, shapes, values, rendering and a holistic working method. An original still life composition will be completed, from an initial sketch to the finalized painting. Painting objectives are to learn color mixing, paint application and procedure. Selected works of art from galleries will be used for insights into color, technique and visual inspirations.

Drawing Composition- Ages 8-12

Students will use their imagination to create figurative, portrait, landscape, and/or animal compositions while learning to express their ideas more effectively through the principles of composition.
